Decapitated - Anticult

Having spent a good deal of time with this thing on my turntable, I can say that I think Decapitated really pulled through with their most focused and efficient effort since the untimely passing of original drummer and creative cornerstone Vitek, in front of whose filled seat still plays a capable and visceral group alongside his brother Vogg, all of whom seem to be trying to continuously re-calibrate to their pre-hiatus, pre-line-up-changes scale of aggression. “Kill the Cult” particularly showcases the current group capturing the kind of infectious riffing akin to “Day 69″ that made them a pillar of technical death metal. “Earth Scar” is another highlight worth mentioning for its weaving intensity and powerful riffing. As I enjoy this album, I look forward to this group maintaining its line-up and focus and building on the revitalization Anticult brought.
I wish this review was longer, as I love this album, but there was so much going on in 2017 when I wrote this; this was all I could muster.
