Undergang - Misantropologi

Short, to the point, and devoid of pretenses beyond understanding death metal, Undergang deliver an energetic, growly, brutal death metal album that grabs immediate attention. From the angrily screamed German intro on “Efter obduktionen”, the band steamrolls at constant pace through 27 minutes of slow Cannibal Corpse-esque chugging, disgustingly strangled gagged vocals, and gutturals Karl Sanders would be impressed by. While not at all technically flashy, Misantroplogi beckons no need for it with the sheer amount of energy and intention the band brings to each performance. The album’s only weakness is that throughout its run-time it does exactly one thing with little to no bells and whistles thrown in, a couple of which (if done tastefully) could have helped keep the album from becoming eventually desensitizing.
